Think Earth Think Sky
With its determination to expand children’s basic knowledge in sciences, THINK EARTH establishes the project “THINK EARTH THINK SKY” to promote scientific thinking and support children’s endless imagination in science. Modern scientific knowledge has been intertwined with traditional folk wisdom in the organization of such programs as the sighting of the total solar eclipse on the 24th of October, 1995, the watching for the clash of Schumacher Comet 9 and Jupiter, and the Future Astronomers Project.
The Wandering Sun : To Watch the Solar Eclipse in Thailand
As a campaign to promote interest in astronomical happenings, THINK EARTH and the Thai Astrologers Association organized the re-enactment of the total solar eclipse on the 24th of October 1995. The eclipse could be sighted in 11 provinces, from Tak, Kamphaeng Petch, Petchabun, Nakorn Sawan, Uthai Thani, to Lopburi, Chaya-phume, Saraburi, Nakorn Ratchasima, Burirum and Sra Kaew.
The Astronomy Study Center to Commemorate the Princess Mother’s 100 Anniversary
THINK EARTH and the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University have established the Northern Astronomical Center, “THINK EARTH THINK SKY,” to celebrate the contributions of Their Royal Highnesses Princess Mother, and Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The center also serves as astronomical archives in the north. Several telescopes have been installed at Sirindhorn Observatory atop Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai, to serve interested locals who wish to study the celestial bodies.
