BANGKOK, September 3, 2025 – Siam Motors Group and Thammasat University have announced a historic collaboration, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance education, research, and human resource development for the nation. The agreement was signed by Mr. Prakasit Phornprapha, President of Siam Motors Co., Ltd., and Professor Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, Rector of Thammasat University, at Club Siam Glowfish, Siam Pathumwan House in Bangkok.
This partnership is a continuation of the strong, four-decade-long relationship between Siam Motors Group and Thammasat University. The MOU aims to seamlessly integrate academia with industry, focusing on preparing students for the real world and developing skilled personnel to propel the national economy, particularly in supporting the growth of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
The collaboration is structured around five key areas:
- 1. Human Resource and Student Development: Providing real-world experience through cooperative education and internship programs at leading companies.
- 2. Joint Research and Innovation: Exchanging knowledge and resources to create new innovations and academic insights.
- 3. Academic Services to Society: Working together to offer academic services to government, private, and community sectors.
- 4. Academic Conferences and Seminars: Elevating knowledge exchange at both national and international levels.
- 5. Support and Development of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC): Jointly promoting and developing the EEC for sustainable growth.
Mr. Prakasit Phornprapha stated, “Siam Motors and Thammasat have been partners for 42 years,
a relationship that began with Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha’s foresight in recognizing the importance of collaboration. His vision led to land donations, research funding, and scholarships for Thammasat students. This new partnership is our next shared challenge, and we are committed to using it to create public benefits and foster sustainable social development.”
Professor Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn added, “This partnership with Siam Motors will significantly enhance Thammasat University’s potential, particularly at our Pattaya Center, preparing it to support the growth of industry and the EEC region.”
For over seven decades, Siam Motors Group has been guided by a philosophy of “giving back to society,” with a strong focus on supporting education. This commitment is best exemplified by its partnership with Thammasat University through concrete and continuous support, including:
- • A historic land donation of over 565 rai in 1987 by Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha to establish Thammasat University’s Pattaya Center.
- • A 68 million baht grant in 2012 to build the Automotive Engineering Operations Building (Auto-TU).
- • A further donation of 18 rai in 2018 by Dr. Phornthep Phornprapha to build the Thammasat University Hospital, Pattaya Center.
Beyond this, Siam Motors Group has supported scholarships for students at other institutions, such as Chulalongkorn University and Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology, as well as through foundations like the Dr. Thaworn–Usa Foundation and scholarships for employees’ children and Foundations for members of the media. The Group has also made significant investments in education, including the founding of Yamaha Music School and the partnership with the UK’s Highgate School to establish Highgate International School Thailand, further solidifying its dedication to building a sustainable learning society.
